Sandbach Directory
Contact usUnlike most directories, entry here is FREE, which means that eventually we should list ALL businesses in Sandbach (if the owners get around to telling us they exist!) If you own or know of a business which is missing from this directory, please contact us with full details. If you are a business owner and would like us to include a complete, separate page about your business on this site, please contact us. It will cost you around £25 one-off fee.
The pleasant, historic Market Town of Sandbach is set in the countryside of South Cheshire and is easily accessed by road and rail. The weekly market, which has existed since the days of Elizabeth I, is extremely popular and attracts visitors from miles around.
Although Sandbach still looks and feels like a small country town it is situated quite close to the M6 motorway, which allows quick access to other towns and cities. The station, just over a mile from the town centre, provides frequent trains to Crewe and Manchester.
Sandbach is renowned for the Ancient Crosses which stand in the cobbled Market Square and also for its black and white buildings of the Tudor period, of which The Old Hall, in the High Street, is a fine example.
Yvette Fielding (famous for "Most Haunted" TV series) and her family live on a farm not far from Sandbach. (Address not listed, for privacy). Yvette and her husband have published a book called "Ghost Hunters".
Sandbach has a long history of heavy engineering, typified by its two commercial vehicle plants, ERF Ltd and Foden Trucks (a subsidiary of Paccar Inc. of Seattle, U.S.A.), which turned out heavy goods vehicles for home and overseas markets. Outside the main town are MTM, the chemical manufacturer and several small metal fabrications companies as well as haulage operators.
However, most of the businesses in Sandbach are small, family businesses run from shops or from home. The main purpose of this site is to make you aware of the wealth of small businesses in Sandbach and the immediate area. Too many people will drive far afield when what they need is on their doorstep!
We have tried to list all of the "hidden" Farm shops, Craft shops and businesses which are "off the beaten track" in this Sandbach directory.
You'll also find a list of Places to Visit, which are within easy driving distance.
Conversely, the list will also highlight gaps in the market for new businesses in the area - an important factor at a time when so many employees have been made redundant and are seeking ways to start again.
The site does not limit itself to listing businesses, however. You will find a comprehensive guide to leisure facilities in the area, together with clubs and organisations which you might never see advertised. In particular, we have tried to list a telephone number, wherever possible, to make it easy for you to contact shops and organisations from home or from your hotel room.
Inevitably some businesses have been omitted because they keep such a low profile we simply did not come across them - apologies! Please contact us to be included.
There will also be some shops listed which have subsequently ceased trading or moved premises; again we apologise if your time is wasted as a result of such errors. All we can say in defence is that, at the time of compilation, this site is, without doubt, the most up-to-date and comprehensive guide to businesses, organisations and attractions in and around Sandbach that is available.
Welcome to Sandbach!
